PC needed network adaptor to connect to internet from router in other room and one was purchased. Partway through installation was told driver needed and easieest way to get this was to download it from the internet! Is there any other way to get appropriate driver?

PC is with Windows 7 Vista using sky b roadband from sky router in another room. Network adaptor is Netgear. Just set up last week when I moved home. successful internet connection on my laptop and ipad in same room where router is installed but not on Pc. Was advised to purchase adaptor for this machine and this is the outcome
Download it on your laptop and copy to your computer using a memory stick.
BTW there's no such thing as Windows 7 Vista
All modern computers will already have a network adapter built in.

Was this in fact a wi fi card to make your desktop PC wi fi enabled?

Did it not come with a driver CD?

You could move the desktop PC next to the router (temporarily) and connect with a cable to download the driver.

Or as has been said, download the driver to your laptop and move it to your desktop PC with a memory stick.
