There were lots of warning about this on FB and it was in the news, so,etching about some scammers having got hold of Talk Talk customers' details.
A link for anyone who requires it:

(I'd never even consider using the dreaded TalkTalk, who've got a terrible reputation for poor customer service).

Hi Sherrardk, hope you're all good, Talktalk are adamant that the info didn't come from them, I was lucky but sadly some people lost lots of cash, they did get into my laptop and it's now being formatted as they left it in a state that I couldn't access anything because I wouldn't put my bank details in to collect my 'refund'.....
We're all good thanks, hope you and yours are too. I only remember it because my friend is on Talk Talk and I emailed her a link to the FB post. Bit scary that people can do stuff like this and so easy to see how people could be taken in by it.
I'm not on talk talk, but that sounds very scary.

It was very scary!....worst part is that Talktalk don't take any responsibility for this, I have to get my laptop sorted, but that's the tip of the iceberg, I feel violated, when I refused to input my bank details the guy on the phone became quite nasty and asked if I want my computer back, I answered yes of course, he then said input your bank info to get your refund then, when I refused he hung up the phone and my laptop was and is frozen!.....A curse on them!....
Perhaps I am thick because I am unable to appreciate how your Laptop has been 'bugged' by a phone call.

Hans.
Awful!!! X
I don't understand either how your laptop is frozen because of a phone call.... did they ask to take over the laptop, did you give them permissions? I know our IT desk at work can do that if we are having difficulties, I imagine it can be done by scammers too, if you tick the right boxes when they ask you to....
