Left my dog tethered outside Asda while I got a few bits. While I was inside someone started petting my dog and got bitten by him. She started shouting at me when I came out that I shouldn't leave a fierce dog unattended and I told her that you shouldn't go petting strange dogs, and in any case my dog is far from fierce as my cat beats him up. She left in a huff saying she would go to the Police with a copy of Asda's CCTV footage but she never thought to take my personal details first, so I never gave them. Need I worry?
Nothing will come of this but as others have said, its best to leave the dog at home next time. Or if you have to tether hm for a few minutes while you run in for an emergency item, then do it away from the main public entrance.
When are people going to accept the results of their own actions?
I, and my own children would not touch anyone the elses property without the owners permission.
This includes animals.
If your dog likes to bite you should not leave it in a public place.
I learnt the hard way to never touch an unknown dog. Luckily I wasn't bitten too badly. My mum didn't blame the dog, she blamed me, but in this day and age owners should know better.
And when you've been bitten by a dog you often fear them so imagine how some people might feel when they just want to pop in for a pint of milk!
Good idea from Baldric - put a muzzle on it, even if it's only when it's tied up.
That alone will act as a deterrent - I'd never dream of stroking a dog with a muzzle on .... even though it'd prob be safe to do so, 'cos it had a muzzle on .... if you catch my drift ??
I'd be worried to death at the thought of someone stealing my dog if I left her tied up outside a shop, especially a busy supermarket. They'd soon bring her back mind, she's as mad as a box of frogs, but still- not worth the risk on that score either.
Afraid i wouldnt risk doing that twr! Even if the lady carries out her threat I think i can pretty much guarantee Asda and or the police wouldn't bother trying to trace Ice_T here. If the OP goes to the police first they could be in danger of having their dog taken from them.
I understand that BOO but if the person decides to as far as asking ASDA for the CCTV Tape, ASDA has to conform, That's what I would do just to clear myself, regards a Mussel, I have always said the same thing.
