Left my dog tethered outside Asda while I got a few bits. While I was inside someone started petting my dog and got bitten by him. She started shouting at me when I came out that I shouldn't leave a fierce dog unattended and I told her that you shouldn't go petting strange dogs, and in any case my dog is far from fierce as my cat beats him up. She left in a huff saying she would go to the Police with a copy of Asda's CCTV footage but she never thought to take my personal details first, so I never gave them. Need I worry?

Depends on how badly she was bitten.
If your dog normally bites people when being stroked.... and you left it unattended in a public place, then yes, start worrying!
so your dog is now at risk because you left it tied up in a public place?
People assume that a dog left in public is friendly.

If nothing comes of this incident at least learn your lesson and don't leave your dog unattended.

You are lucky that it was not a young child that your dog bit.

As previous posters have said don't leave your dog tethered outside a supermarket or indeed anywhere.
Nothing will come of this but as others have said, its best to leave the dog at home next time. Or if you have to tether hm for a few minutes while you run in for an emergency item, then do it away from the main public entrance.

Buy a muzzle, even if you only use it when you leave him tied up, it could save you a fortune and save his life.
When are people going to accept the results of their own actions?
I, and my own children would not touch anyone the elses property without the owners permission.
This includes animals.
If your dog likes to bite you should not leave it in a public place.
^^ please remove "the" ^^
I learnt the hard way to never touch an unknown dog. Luckily I wasn't bitten too badly. My mum didn't blame the dog, she blamed me, but in this day and age owners should know better.

And when you've been bitten by a dog you often fear them so imagine how some people might feel when they just want to pop in for a pint of milk!
Good idea from Baldric - put a muzzle on it, even if it's only when it's tied up.
That alone will act as a deterrent - I'd never dream of stroking a dog with a muzzle on .... even though it'd prob be safe to do so, 'cos it had a muzzle on .... if you catch my drift ??
I'd be worried to death at the thought of someone stealing my dog if I left her tied up outside a shop, especially a busy supermarket. They'd soon bring her back mind, she's as mad as a box of frogs, but still- not worth the risk on that score either.
I would get in contact with your local Police Station & report it, that put's you in order in case it has been said, you have done nothing about it.
Afraid i wouldnt risk doing that twr! Even if the lady carries out her threat I think i can pretty much guarantee Asda and or the police wouldn't bother trying to trace Ice_T here. If the OP goes to the police first they could be in danger of having their dog taken from them.

No, better to lie low and not take the dog again.
I understand that BOO but if the person decides to as far as asking ASDA for the CCTV Tape, ASDA has to conform, That's what I would do just to clear myself, regards a Mussel, I have always said the same thing.

Does Asda have to conform to a request from a member of the public? I'm not so sure they do!
To the police they do...if they still have footage.

Yes agreed, but TWR did not mention the Police and nor did I in my question

///but if the person decides to as far as asking ASDA for the CCTV Tape///
You will be aware, if the person that has been Bitten & reports to the police & states there was a CCTV In that Area, they will ask ASDA For the Tape.
I think they do check CCTV on a customers request. Remember the lost lottery ticket?
