Have a new LG smart TV. The model number is probably irrelevant. Had it 2 weeks and it has switched itself off mid-viewing 4 times now. I'm guessing it's some powersave feature in settings maybe? Should it do this (we are not using the TV remote or wireless pointer just the sky remote)??

have you read the manual? My panasonic has the same feature, on ours you can turn it off somewhere in settings.
Prudie......my new TV does that if I sit still for too long.....just remember to wave your arms and shout...Yoohoo...now and again....☺

I did wonder if it's telling us we're couch potatoes ;-)
Our Samsung does that, it is a timer thingy.

On ours it's in the Menu as 'Auto Off' can cancel it if req'd
Prudie.....I can only watch TV if I am knitting or sewing.....I had no idea when I bought this TV what was happening....then the daughter explained and suggested I choose a pattern with a row of furious knitting every so often... honestly....for the days when you had to get up and turn a clonky knob for your other station......:-)
Mine does that too but flags up a warning just before it shuts down. Something like "You've not moved for 3 hours (lazy mare), so if you don't want me to shutdown, press ..."
I once went to Menu, Baldric...and had to get a man in.....not that I'm against getting men in of course......☻

Thanks all, i'll look at settings. Tomorrow probably. Yes those were the days gness. Anyone remember how futuristic it was to have a TV you could control from a box on the armchair connected by lead to the TV - the precursors of remotes.
We've got a sort of sleep control feature on ours, a little box comes on the screen when it's been on for 4 hours, you have to click the remote to keep it active.

I remember our friends who had everything first buying a Betamax...was that what they were called....

It stood on the hearthrug for ages til all visitors had commented or fallen over it.....☺
Our LG does the same, I think its a feature you can just turn off, Im just not sure how to do it. we just touch the volume control to keep it on, just press any button when the warning box comes up that it will shut down in one minute.
My LG does it too, after 4 hours, I just press any button and it doesn't turn off.
My Samsung is the same.
Not a problem!
There will be a menu button on the remote. Use this to explore the settings and turn the power save feature off if you don't want it.
ermm.........people..........manual......read it.......
