/// The group says it merely opposes radical Islam and hate preachers and believes Muslims need to adapt to our way of life in the west, instead of us adapting to them, /// now who could disagree with that?

/// Nadia Iftkhar, said the people who live in Newcastle, find their ideology “poisonous and hateful” and they were neither “wanted nor welcome”, how can she be speaking for the whole of Newcastle? ///

/// Dipu Ahad, a Newcastle councillor, organised the Newcastle Unites counter demonstration and said people are travelling from as far south as Devon and as north as Inverness to attend. ///

Oh I had no idea that Zacs-Master was on nights, simply because he is on this site during the day also.
For the record....
We (Mrs ZM and I) had just said goodnight to our dinner guests and I thought I would pop on and see if anyone had any sensible contributions over and above the usual blind ignorance. I was pleased to see a few. And then again.....
Pegida UK is just another banner for the usual suspects, far right thugs who turn up to every BNP and EDL rally. Many are football hooligans, and several have criminal convictions for violence.

// ...there were 5 arrested all from the same group, (yes you've guessed correctly) from the far right group, but then some of their opponents were from our peaceful Muslims, so it stands to reason. //

Comparing these two photographs from the Daily Mail, it is not difficult to see which side would be breaking the law.

They say you can judge a man by the company he keeps. You have some very dodgy friends AOG.

Must have been a riveting evening, so as to think about AnswerBank and it contributors, after an evening's dinner attended by one's wife and friends?

I would have thought one last tipple alone with one's wife, discussing the success or otherwise of your evening?

There you go again Moderator Gromit, who said they were my friends, dodgy or otherwise?

You really must learn that it is not only rude to make false accusations, but it also encourages ill-feeling and aggression on the site, that you have taken on yourself to moderate.
It was 6 hours of good company, fillet steak and a very nice Tempranillo. No room for a final tipple.
Newcastle Utd achieved an unlikely 'double'.

A win on and off the pitch....

The supporters at the Galloway, I mean, Gallowgate end are a credit...

A good cognac, takes up no room at all.

I had a Laphroaig.
Peter Pedant - "Blimey Andie when I mention the Nazi party and their awful practices ( shooting prisoners on sight and so on ) in another thread, you demand I retract and apologise"

You appear to be wilfully missing the point I made on that thread, and are continuing to do so. I took exception to your suggestion that another poster condoned the Nazi practice of shooting without trial, hopefully I do not have to repeat myself again on that subject.

"do we feel a little impulse to apologise to dear dear AOG for doing something you are so quick to condemn in another ? ( the another would be me by the way )"

Do we? I can only speak for myself, but I feel no need to apologise to AOG for making an entirely different point on a different thread.

Should I feel the need to apologise to anyone, I think my own conscience will provide the stimulus, yours is not required, thank you.

But where are these people when Anjem Choudary is doing one of his 'we will have sharia law you western scumbags' gatherings?
You mean like these hotties, Talbot?

This looks to me like a community protecting itself from nasty foreign invaders ! Pegida should go back to Germany and have its racist rallies there, and leave Newcastle in peace.

What proof have you that they are racist, have they chopped any heads off or bombed anyone?

Don't you think that we should oppose radical Islam and hate preachers, and don't you also think that Muslims should adapt to our way of life in the west, instead of us adapting to them?

If you don't I know that I do.

Just answer yes or no.
If you don't oppose radical Islam then you must be a supporter and it must then follow that you are in favour of executing gays and Jews and suchlike.
// If you don't oppose radical Islam then you must be a supporter and it ... //

How does that follow? I don't oppose animal rights, that does not mean I support activists who bomb laboratories. It is quite acceptable to allow people freedom to practice their religion, even fundamental adherents, but not support acts of terrorism done by murders.
Of course I oppose radicalised Muslims. But this group is just like all the other racist groups that we have hear already...the EDL, Britain First, the BNP etc. They just want to stir up racial hatred and racial unrest.

But there are far more people in Germany opposing Pegida, than supporting it. As far as I can tell, there is no history of serious racial unrest in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, so I am at a loss to explain why this German racist group has decided to come over here in the first place, We have our own, home-grown racists and we don't need any more swelling their ranks.
Mikey,

This may explain why Pegida came to Newcastle:-
