I am fancying a break in Brighton, but cannot find a hotel that tempts me.

I am now casting my net further afield and wondering what Hove may have to offer or if anyone can recommend a pub that offers good food and accommodation within easy reach of Brighton.

JJ might let you have her spare room. ;)

Hopefully she'll see this, she's always out and about by the sounds of it.
Have you tried the good pub guide?

I'm worried that I don't have enough grey hair for Hove.

I somehow doubt JJ will offer dinner and breakfast.....more likely to throw some takeaway menus at us and give directions to cafés for brekkie ;-)
or her lesbian club, Eccles - don't know the area at all - more towards Petworth....

Good thought SherrardK, I might have a wee look through and see what's on offer.

I'm dodging tripadvisor but the good pub guide could well show up something promising.
Just had a look Eccles... I wouldn't hold your breath for anything special!

what about this? it's rated

Thanks Mazie, I feared as much.

DTC, I've eaten at The Bull and will never return, quite an experience on the food and service front.

I'm increasingly coming to the conclusion that and alternative destination is required!
I have stayed at quite a few Premier Inns & find them very comfortable & there is always food close to hand
what about into Kent?
We used to holiday in Rye when Queenie was young, there are some really nice places there, not too far from Brighton and is a really nice area to visit. Take a look at the Rye website there are some nice places on that site
My thinking too, nungate - was at the George there many years ago and had a good stay but couldn't say yea or nay today.....
My ma and pa stayed in Rye, they absolutley loved it. Can't remember the name of the hotel (but Penelope Cruz stayed there whilst filming Pirates of the Caribbean if that helps). They thought the restaurants were very good.

I have been considering the Premier Inn, by and large they are OK and don't promise the earth and the fail to deliver.

I will also take a peak at what Rye has to offer.
We stayed at a place called the Hope Anchor but I've no idea what it's like nowadays as the last time we were there Queenie was around 10 years old but it is still there as best beloved and I were considering a short break there last year
Eccles, we stayed at the Hotel Umi on Brighton seafront before Christmas. Clean, basic, sea view for an extra twenty quid - very pleasant and helpful staff http://umihotelbrighton.co.uk/ - and an amazingly barmy attached Little Bay restaurant with balconies opera.... It was great fun. We'll go back. http://www.littlebaybrighton.co.uk/

Eccles - try looking at Findon Manor - a bit outside Brighton, but a very good Hotel, with an excellent restaurant. It's in a very picturesque village too.

Come and stay with me eccles. But why not try Lewes or Rye or Arundel? They're both very pretty and very interesting places.

BTW, you have a very dated image of Hove. You'll have to go quite away to find any grey hair here. Lots of gyms, bars, clubs, cafes, shops etc etc. Wherever you go Eccles, have a great time.

xx
