Tuna.
what is the problem?
If you think he's cold get him a coat.
Yes,good diet, regular grooming - remember not all breeds have thick coats.
Question Author
such a petty coat - pinky fluffy stuff - i should not have bothered getting him groomed. I am figuring rain and air and stuff should help. Will try Tuna - you nearly can see his pinky skin.
Have you just had your new pal groomed - make him feel nice. The first thing that I did when I rescued my last dog was get his nuts cut off. Much tidier looking after that.

I hope that he settles in and appreciates his new mum. :-)
LOL @ wolf ( susan ) ye much tidier :)
Wolfie, fear not, little chap has already been 'done'.
That's good that he has been 'done'. You can get him a little jersey JJ. Most of the big pet stores sell them now.
These any good? Can u upload a photo of your dog

I am afraid that I have made a mistake re this wee dog. he doesn't bark at anything - eg excitement anything so it is a bit uncanny.

It is not the not barking it is I don't think I am well enough mentally to commit. Any reassurance from anybody. He is really a great wee dog and I am doing my best to make him comfortable etc but think I mentally am shunning him. Oh I don't know!!! Please help. Have him 3 weeks now and if I don't get it with this dog I will never ever get another cos he is as good as gold. Mr Harv was mad in comparison.
What's the problem , I don't get it? What breed is he? Is he still a pup? Has he had a vet check? My dog never barked at anything, what's wrong with that? And not all dogs are excitable!
More info needed, please.
Question Author
he is half shih tzu and bichon frieze - don't think he was cared for by last owner as he is thin.

I have been wanting a wee dog since Mr Harv died and now that I have it I just don't know. My stomach is full of nerves have I made the wrong decision.
JJ, you've had a hard time recently. The timing was probably bad. The not barking isn't really a bad thing. You moaned about Harv barking...just go with the flow.
Question Author
thanks Ummmm - can I ask what "flow" - I am desperate here.
Question Author
I take owning a dog a big big commitment. God what have i done.
I assume you have had him checked out at the vets? If you have a rescue dog and really can't get on with him, then please take him back and he will be re-homed with someone more suitable. Don't feel bad, if he's not what you really want or need then take him back, they will understand.
Jenny...you're grieving, you have no control over that, you have to let nature takes it's course with the old cliche 'time is a healer'

Don't be too hard on yourself. If your dog is fed, walked and fussed, it's probably much happier than you think.
cone. stop it now. you have lost your confidence since harv and family members have died. he is not harv, does he allow you to pet him/praise him/ does his tail wag ? please don't do anything harsh .
JJ, everyone is right - give yourself a little more time with him, sounds like you are trying too hard.

Not all dogs are vocal and his quietness shows he is calm and happy.

But if you really can't cope then return him to the rescue.

Most importantly take good care of yourself.
