Yes, you have to pay the premium. When you renewed did you tell them you were unemployed? You have to do that as it affects your risk. If you did not tell them they will cancel your insurance.
The accident has to be reported as well even if it was not your fault.
As you have now had an insurance voided it will increase your premiums in the future , they will say you are now a great

Be very careful to tell the insurance EVERYTHING in future this has been an expensive mistake.

Will my claim still go threw ok tho?? As the third party is dealing with it thaanx for your help :) x
I have never heard of an Insurer cancelling because of a change of occupation to "unemployed".

Are you sure this was the reason that they gave you,or more likely it is something to do with the ongoing claim ?
That does sound odd. Your occupation will be taken into account when deciding on the premium as some occupations are considered more high risk than others. I've never heard of insurance being cancelled as you are unemployed & didnt tell them. although sometimes when you take out insurance online it might ask how many hours you work, so if it still said 35 hours a week for instance, or whatever you put in last time, I guess they could say you hadn't been honest. It seems harsh though. Check with them again & ask for confirmation in writing of the reason why. As for the claim. If the insurers of the other party have accepted liability then you will claim for the cost of your repairs from them & not on your own policy, so your policy being cancelled wont affect the claim. When you take out a new policy though you will need to declare the claim & that you've had a policy cancelled.

It's is defiantly due to change of employment status as I had declared everything I needed to, thanx for all your responses been very helpful :)

You seem to no what your talking about, I'm defiantly going to fight it as long as it won't put my claim at risk.
Being unemployed does increase your risk for car insurance.
You are likely to be driving any time of day when an employed person would be at work a lot of the time. My insurance went up when I retired.
