My 9 month old grandson seems to vomit, bring back his food so to speak, quite a lot. His mother, my daughter is quite concerned, I do not remember my babies doing that either, but that was a long time ago, I may have forgotten. Other than that, he is very healthy, active, has a voracious appetite, although from what I can see, they are not over feeding him, they do it " by the book " , could it be his digestive system just isn't quite formed yet ? Any advice ?

Has he always done this, or is this a new development?
Is it projectile? Is he gaining weight and otherwise healthy?
The reason I ask is that my nephew had pyloric stenosis, a narrowing of the entrance to the stomach, which led to him projectile vomiting everything. As your grandson is older than my nephew was it seems unlikely, but worth thinking about. If he is otherwise healthy, it is probably less serious.

Thanks for the response. He certainly is gaining weight and has no other symptoms . I think you maybe right Daffy, sounds like infant reflux, having read the link you sent me. He's not bothered about it, and it's only a spoonful or so. Stinks though !
Oh that's good.
I think some babies are just a little more prone to it than others. If he is healthy and gaining weight- don't worry.

if your daughter is concerned she can ask her health visitor,

Anne, we don't get health visitors here. But she's going for a routine paediatric checkup on Monday. I just wondered if anyone had had experience with this.

Here you take your babies for monthly ( more often when they are newborn) checkups to the paediatrician . And good old Dr.Spock.

Not of Star Trek's fame.
initially they visit the parents and baby at home, then there are ' baby clinics' available for advice from health visitors.

Different countries, different systems.
well, as long as dr, spock is available for advice, :)
Sounds like reflux, all 3 of my boys had it, it's more common in boys for some reason. They would projectile vomit after every feed. They stopped once they were put on cows milk. Looking back now, they are in their 20's, I think it had something to do with the formula. 2 of them were breast fed for the first few weeks and were fine, as soon as they went on the bottle they started being sick, the 3rd son was bottle fed from the start and was sick from then. Health visitor said it was reflux, no one even considered it was possibly the formula.
Yes...no big deal....it does sound like reflux .
