Did anyone watch this? I wish the sub-titles used for some of the Indian interviewees had been extended to include Scottish chef Tony Singh’s dialogue. I could hardly understand a word he was saying!

I thought it was an absolutely brilliant programme, it was a really good balance of heritage, food and travelogue.

Can't say I had a problem with any of the accents.

Eccles, I watched the first one and really enjoyed it, but I seriously couldn't understand much of what Tony was saying. I'm hoping I'll do better next week in Argentina with John Torode's Australian accent.

The film Kes had to have sub titles so our southern cousins could understand the dialogue:)

I watched his programme (The Spice Men) when I was in India the other week. I hadn`t heard of him and thought it was a local TV programme in English but with strong Indian accents. I didn`t realise for quite a while that he was actually Scottish and not speaking with a Kannad accent.

For future ease of understanding (I had no problems at all BTW) I found watching things like rab nesbitt, still game, and taggart helped a lot.

I presume so, Eccles. I hadn`t heard either of them and don`t tend to watch cookery programmes very much but as I was in India I thought "Great, an Indian cookery programme, I might learn something" then I realised they we doing and Indian "take" on British food. The episode I saw had them doing an Indian style bread and butter pudding.
