To be honest it can also be how you talk to them. In my last gp practice we had a right dragon called Florence, nobody liked her , even the other receptionists lol lol, but I just seemed to have the knack of knowing how to deal with her and we got on ok.

In my new practice there are a couple that are a bit prickly, but again it's how you handle them. I have seen patients really being rude to them, albeit they should know this goes with the job, but it puts their back up.
The receptionists at my surgery are excellent. I find most sub post mistresses have permanent PMT, the one in my local post office is a right grump-meister!
