Low White Blood Cell Count

I've just been to the doctors, after they requested to see me this morning.

They have said I've got a low white blood cell count and that they want to text me again next week.

I can certainly rule out HIV, AIDS and Mineral deficiencies. I can hardly see it being Lupis either.

Any ideas?

*test not text.
zillions
absolutely zillions

there is more than one white cell (!) so even googling neutropenia wont help because you could have a lymphopenia
and the zillions of different causes of each are er different

I ask for the differential each time... My lymphocytes seem stuck at 800 ( 0.8 old units) which is a pain as it means I am still immunosuppressed.

Yours I think is very likely to be post-infectious ( run down after an infection )

this is very likely to be a blind alley - dont worry
did you ask the doctor ?
aaaa rgh !

After a serious infection (2 months ago) they did a FBC and a WBC and everything was fine. I wasn't aware I'd had any problems since. I'm not really worrying, I just can't understand why it's all happening now - I've had about 70 blood tests in the past year.

Anneasquith: Yes I did and she wasn't willing to suggest anything until I had another blood test next week.
did you ask the doctor ?
cross posts,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, best wait for results of repeat test then .
Question Author
I noticed the crossed post :)

Yeah I'll just wait and see. To be honest, I'd have to be pretty unlucky to have anything seriously wrong with me after all the tests I've had.

Thanks all.
2 months ago, your white cell count was normal.

Now, you WCC is low.

In simple terms, you are not making white cells in you bone marrow, or if you are, then something is killing them in the circulation.

One would need to see the total blood count...red cells AND white cells, but the first and obvious question is what drugs are you on...particularly for your mental problem.

My guess?....no big deal.

Now...briefly......if your blood test shows a low white count with NO associated anaemia, then my money is on a drug related cause. ? Which one..........my bet........Domperidone.

If your low WCC is associated with an anaemia then you will need a bone marrow biopsy.

My bet? Drug related.
Question Author
I should of know domperidone was going to be the issue. I only take it because I'm told to. It makes me hungry all the time.
