Okay let me see they were put up in a hotel that was housing asylum seekers, then the hotel's residents were given permission to play football on the rugby club's field, then finally they were signed up to play in the rugby team.
What a tale of success for two criminals, one couldn't make it up.

maggiebee I think you seem to understand that they worked here whilst subject of a visitors visa. Good. That contravenes the terms of coming here on a visitors visa if they worked.One can assume that they, therefore are not working for nothing but also are not paying N.I. or tax on their income. Why is it a tragic story, they came here representing their country, and it was them who chose to do a runner and leave their team mates to return to Uganda without them.
They have let their country down, let their team down, let their families down. and left us with two more for our increasingly crumbling infrastructure to support.
That is the real 'Tragic Story'.

Let us say there are two people. One enjoyed a career as an active police officer for 30 odd years and obtained many arrests and convictions for wrong doers. With that success in that career came a good few Commissioners Commendations as well as Magistrates and Judges.When that officer retired he was awarded an exemplary conduct certificate.
Then the other person was a gullible,naive soul who couldn't detect a gas leak with a lot candle.

AOG, of course they were here before they were granted asylum. They came to Scotland to take part on the Commonwealth Games. They are/were both rugby stars in Uganda, playing for their country. If they had 6 month visitors' visas that would take them up till January 2015. It would appear that they applied for asylum before their visa may have worked while on a visitor's visa.
Many people work outwith their own country. They do this because the money is usually better and they can save/send more home to their
families. Brits do it all the time whether or not they may have a sick child.

It was suggested earlier that this was probably planned in advance. That would suggest to me that a conspiracy occurred whereby these three individuals came to this country under false pretences and legged it and hid.
They are probably laughing their Rugby hose off now as how easy it is to enter this country and ride roughshod over immigration rules and dupe the naivety of the people in this country who feel they have an absolute right to remain in this country and accept all the handouts that these idiots are and will hand to them. They have now "come out" and are already being given furniture hand outs. What next? A demand to the council to give them a bigger flat so they can house their families when they join them.
Uganda is not a worn torn country full of strife, mass executions and bombings. Sure they have terrorists rebels in the NE of the country but so what? We had terrorist activities in the UK on a large scale in the 60's and even now we are on almost critical alert. That does not give a citizen of the UK the right to claim asylum in another country having entered it under false pretences in the first place does it. Some seem to think so it appears. I was hoping we were supposed to be discouraging potential terrorists in this country.

AOG, I can assure you I do state my views / Votes / & I will not be put on in any sort / or by anyone that try's to take the Izzzzzzz including some from Kent / B/Pool, they do not bother me, but I can see what's happening in the UK, I can also see who are causing problems in the UK whilst others see it & are afraid of saying anything.
