Does anyone have any recommendations for free online crossword puzzles, please? I used to enjoy the Radio Times Cryptic before it got too hard for me.

Hi Marijn - you can get the Guardian & FT puzzles free from -

http://www.theguardian.com/crosswords

http://www.ft.com/life-arts/crossword

The Telegraph & Times both require subscriptions & I don't know if the Mail, Express, Sun, Mirror etc are available free - I tend to think they aren't, but someone might disabuse me of that notion! :-)

Thank you Lie-in King. Do you think the Guardian and FT will be similar to the Radio Times, or harder?
Probably more difficult, sorry.

The FT Polymath is a hard-ish General Knowledge puzzle that comes out on Saturdays, while the daily cryptic varies according to the compiler.

The Guardian site offers more of a selection, including the Everyman puzzle on a Sunday.

Thank you
The Mirror puzzles are available here -

I'm assuming you use Chrome - if so, navigate to the one you want then right-click, select

"Print" > "More Settings" (at the bottom left) > tick "Background Graphics" > then select only the page you want - eg, "2" in the "Pages" box (near top left).

I've never tried them, so can't comment on their difficulty levels.

Thank you all very much :-)
Have you tried the US Crosswords for a change? The Chicago Tribune/LA Times free one is at http://games.chicagotribune.com/games/daily-crossword/ and there is an explanatory website on http://crosswordcorner.blogspot.co.uk/. It's a bit different and will widen your exposure to US culture!!
