>>>Can't see a doctor for a week

If that's based upon your GP's appointments system, I'd regard that statement as rubbish. Turn up at the surgery when it opens on Monday morning, tell the receptionist that you're very worried by your symptoms and that;
(a) you're prepared to see any doctor ; and
(b) you don't mind how long you have to wait (but you're not going until you get to see someone).
I've never known that to fail yet! (I even tried it when I wasn't registered at a surgery. Within 20 minutes I'd been registered, seen a doctor, got a prescription and collected it from their on-site pharmacist). Be confident and give it a go!
Blimey Chris where do you live, an ideal world lol lol. Our surgery has just one Doctor, if you just turn up you would not be seen. I have made an appointment today for next Thursday and when I asked for a telephone appointment that would not be until next Tuesday.
I am always saddened when I see posts about how long people have to wait to get an appointment - my Surgery is great and we have some online booking too.

If you phone in distress and mention what the issue is they do all they can to get you in that very morning.

8 doctors & 5 nurses, appointments available any time between 0830 and 1830 (with same day appointments always available) and an online booking system:

Why can't other doctors get themselves organised like our lot can?
If i remember correctly you have had quite a history of musculo-skeletal disorders (wear & tear ) for well over a year now and correct me if i am wrong, but you have had an MRI scan on your cervical spine.

this seems an exacerbation of your underlying, pre existing condition, probably brought on by the cold spell in the UK.

You may have to increase your painkillers or add something like ibuprofen to get you over this bad spell.

Thank you for all the replies,squad is right about my history. i have been pain free for several months, so it could possibly now be weather related. I book my Doctors appointment on line. There were four Doctors, now there are three, two of which are new. I could have seen the practise nurse a bit sooner, but She has a chat then suggest you see a Doctor, so back in the que. Just like to add, there is a 12 week wait for a MRI scan at our local hospital, not good.
