Is it safe? Consultant mentioned bleeding, should i be worried? also will do rhinitis shrinking (or something along those lines) at the same time. Will be admitted for day surgery, and then around 14 day at home. Leaflet says 7 days should be enough to stay home. My eldest is having it done due to blocked nose all the time.

thanks, your advice and opinions always help and matter to me.

It must be safe they've been doing it for years. One of my daughters had it done when she was around 9 years old which was over 20 years ago. She had hardly any bleeding but was careful not to blow her nose. About three days after the op a huge clot came out of her nose. It worked very well, she always had a blocked nose and was very 'nasal' in her speech, both were stopped by the surgery.
Make sure you make it very clear to the surgeon that you want the adenoids removed and not just trimmed, I was supposed to have mine removed when I was a child but the surgeon decided to trim them and they grew back but grew backwards instead of up and they ended up blocking my nasal passage, I had a 2nd operation to have them removed and a different surgeon again decided to trim rather than remove so I've finally had a 3rd operation and eventually had them removed.
I have never heard of adenoid trimming and have never met a surgeon that did this, they, the adenoids being removed in toto or not.

All operations have their danger, but adenoidectomy is almost always a safe procedure.

"Rhinitis shrinking" or sub mucosal daithermy is " burning of the lining of the nose which results in shrike and improved nasal airflow.

A week's recovery is ample.

It is a painless procedure.

Yes......bleeding may occur, but is easily controlled.
Trimming apparently is where they don't remove the root
danchip...thank you.
rebleed rate is around 1% - the surgeon will be able to tell you what his own is.

death rate one in 15 000 - which looks safe to me
so in a hospital doing 500 /yr it occurs once in thirty years

thank you to you all. I was so anxious about it yesterday, while signing the consent form, i was wavering, cons registrar wasn't keen to do it in my opinion, consultant told me at the last visit this might be best option to clear the blocked nose feeling etc. After hearing from you guys, i feel a little more confident. I don't even know you lot apart from on ab, but always feel so reassured with your honest opinions. thanks.
