their song "skye" is perhaps one of only a few where the live version is better than the studio recording.

Beeeeeen around a long time now !
Welcome to the wonderful world of music from Runrig slinky.
I've been a huge fan since discovering them by chance when they were promoting "The Cutter and The Clan" album on the radio back in 1987.
You MUST see them live. I've seen them live now 5 times in Glasgow.
Twice with Donnie Munro singing and 3 times with new singer Bruce Guthro.
I don't speak Gaelic but the song melodies on the Gaelic songs are up lifting.
I have all their albums to date and my favourite songs are:

Rocket To The Moon,
Running To The Light,
Maymorning,
Faileas Air An Airigh,
Harvest Moon.

But I like them all to be honest.
Enjoy your Runrig discovery. :o)
Seen them many times the best being at Stirling Castle 30th anniversary I think great live band
I remember queing for a ticket for my brother - chap from record shop came out, counted the number of people in the queue and stopped counting a few people behind me - they were counting as they were selling out!

So I decided to get 2 tickets, with intention of selling second (pre internet!) but ended up going to the concert as well!
My daughter used to buy me two Runrig tickets for my birthday every year when they were touring. They always came to Dundee in December and she had to come with me of course.
Great band!
My favourite is "Dance Called America"!
If you like Runrig (who dosen't after hearing them) try The Saw Doctors
Been a fan since Trish & I first saw them when along with Lisa Stansfield they backed Genesis at Roundhay Park,a great night all round.
I really like the Live at Loch Lomond album.

When Woolworths was open they used to stock the top 40 albums in every branch. Runrig albums always got in the top 40 because they sold in Scotland. No one had heard of Rnrig in England, so they used to end up in the bargain bin. I picked up several Runrig albums for 50p that way.
Gromit: I've been listening to them since SK started this thread and I love Loch Lomond. I love Scotland though so! I'm currently listening to that track now.
Never heard of them before, listening to Skye, they're brilliant, listened t a few others also since you started the thread, very enjoyable - and they've been around forever it seems!!!!
ducksie: The exiting song on the last 'gig' for Donnie Munro was Loch Lomond. I don't like the song as much without him singing the lead.
The album I meant was "Once in a lifetime Live)". It great. Get it here

I watched that Dizmo, enjoyed it too - years ago members of my family went to different parts of Scotland and for some reason we seem t have an affinity to that part of the world...we love it, so I've enjoyed Runrig tonight on youtube :)
