There are dozens of planned stores that will never be built as well. Tesco opened far too many shops in the last few years and and are now paying for their greed. And there are 2000 job losses entailed in this wholesale closure.

Is anybody in any way surprised by this news ?

baldric, I know what mikey means, he's not saying we are all trolls but there are troll posters and on occasion we can all do what I call a troll post, yes even me, though I have tried to stop doing that. So don't take it personally baldric. I'm sure it wasn't meant as such.
Back on to topic.....

Tesco's biggest problem is not the accounting issues; it's that they have lost faith with their customers. If Truro is anything to go buy, in comparison to Sainsbury's or Waitrose, it's not that well stocked in terms of items and depths of items on the shelf, it's bombarded with lots of useless signs that serve to clutter it up, the staff are not as well presented as the two mentioned and a large part of the dirt (US for sales space) is given over to underperforming goods - everytime in there the clothing and households, which occupy prime central space, hardly has anyone in there. Then add in a catastrophic parking policy which has alienated out-of-towners....and a recipe for disaster.

If I was MD, President, CEO, this is where my time would be spent - reshaping the offer and strengthening it, getting more use out of the Tesco Card (and adding in things like their delayed price discounts), and better usage of the prime space, splitting the store in many ways to offer cheap and pile it high as before and then a focus on trend setting cooking and quality goods.

Don't do this and there will be far more than 43 stores sold off and 2000 job losses down the line.

I never for one moment thought it was T³
please can we keep to the OP and stop with the accusations :-)
