Onwards and Downwards Continues in January 2015

Happy New Year,

I hope you all let your hair down a little for the holidays and had some fun. I was going to do something about detox but that's not really what we are about here is it?

So how about Dry January, anyone going for it?

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Here is last months thread

We are all familiar enough aren't we, with stories of people who lose weight only to out it all back on again. Well a couple of years ago, with your support I lost 3 stone. In 2013 I lost another half a stone and last year I maintained about the same weight all year. But this Christmas I accepted every chocolate offered and managed to gain a whopping 6lbs. If it wasn't...

Good to hear he's recovering x. Well done for not gaining May.

As for me, well, allegedly I have dropped a further 0.4 lbs over the last 24 hours. I'm unsure whether these scales will settle down but I'm not amused at present.
I'm down another 300 grams and slowly attempting to reach my 2 longterm aims re BMI and 75K - my ideal weight 20 years ago. No hurry but this slowdown takes some getting used to!
You do get used to it Jomlett. It took me a while but it will come. You must re programme your brain to appreciating small losses. ha ha
Maydup I too have stayed the same despite being reasonable good .but this is how I go so hopefully a result next week .

Jomlette every little bit is a bonus you will get there

Xstitcher this is where the problems start when you run out of foods to prepare .HOpefully you will get out soon to stock up .

OG going the right way even though it is small amount . Give your scales a chance...if you know you have been naughty your scales will not lie for you .
I finally (late I know, I should do it as I go so I know where I am) totaled the input from yesterday. Turns out I hadn't eaten too much as I thought but was suspiciously under target. This is both unusual and difficult to believe, but I've checked and can't think of anything forgotten. So just maybe the 0.4 lbs is possible. I shall be keeping my eye on it though.

Well don Jom for losing, and wend for not gaining.
That does sound like a believable result OG. Maybe scales need to be broken in and get used to being used....just an idea....
It's very lonely om the naughty step this week sooooo Onwards and Downwards!

Morning all,

Hope you had a good weekend full of salads and green tea (wink).

I can just about see February around the corner and wondered if anyone had any inspiration for a theme for next month's thread.

There is Valentine's day perhaps we could have some alternative goodies instead of the dreaded (but delightful) box of choccies?

Please leave your answers below, I will check back later in the week :-)

cheers

Good morning all,
Down a pound this week so my smile is back in place. Doesn't anybody have some dessert ideas for Auntie? I've been wracking my brains but haven't come up with anything because dessert for me is a piece of fruit. Hmmmmmmm
Not an ounce lost this week again I think it is determined not to disappear till the warmer weather staying around to keep me warm . Despite being reasonable good. Ah well better luck next week .Carry on Onwards and Downwards.
Despite an OG style fight with my scales this morning I have concluded a 1lb loss this week too. (Old fashioned dial scales which didn't like being moved when I could no longer see them where they were. They tried to give me an extra half stone in protest!)

The best option for me is to replace chocolate with a yoghurt and some fruit. It needs to be low fat and low sugar yoghurt of course. And make the fruit interetsing so vary it from week to week.

Its hard though and I do struggle to resist a bisciut of a piece of chocolate if OH has any in the house! I have to do my best to grap another handful of grapes or a satsuma.

If your date wants to buy you a valentines gift, ask for a night out at the cinema or theatre and avoid focusing on food at all!

Well done xstitcher .I am not a very good dessert person either apart from yogurts and I might cut up a piece of fruit and put in one .
Well done Maydup. Biscuits are fatal . I live on my own but I must keep some in for grandkids . I can refrain from not opening a packet but once it is open I can sneak one . It's that devil again.
Very very disappointing. Despite a great start from last Wednesday onwards having lost (allegedly) 1 lb by Friday, the long weekend put a lot on (or so the scales claimed) and hardly any change since then means today it reads a further 1 lb up. Find it difficult to believe.
I'm down another 500 grams this week and my still on course for a new spring in my step!
What really mixed together ? Not sure. Maybe soup mix ? My inclination would have been to look for each separately.
Sorry, forgot to click on 'last'
Glad to see no one else seems to be following my trend. That said I didn't type it quite right. turns out it was down until Friday, shot up until Monday, and has gone down again until today. But still an overall gain. Well there was that Malaysian meal and the pub lunch I suppose. That's the trouble with having guests.
I think I've said this before OG, you're over weighing yourself. It you could cut down....start slowly since it's you :-)) to every other day and try to work it down to once a week. If you list what you eat then maybe that would be a better help as to where the variation comes in. I would guess that not all intake can be seen the day after.
Need to be careful again tonight. One of the rare work team do thingies. Just when I need a really good week. A small quantity of ale and a lo cal curry no doubt. Maybe they have a tandoori dish on the menu.
I forgot to say well done to you last week Jomlett...at your stage 500 gm is a big loss (so nice to be able to talk in grams and kilos)
I find that now I have a little mental picture of a scales registering before and after weights. That picture is enough to keep me on the straight and narrow!
