I'm very surprised, certainly -- since about Summer 2014 Federer's looked like he was recovering from a few barren years and I thought he might have a good chance to win this tournament. Not to be... maybe helps Murray a bit, if he can beat Dimitrov that is.

I didn't think Federer would win this tournament this year, age is certainly catching up with him, the signs are there. With so many young players coming through all trying to beat a top seed it's getting tougher to hang on in there.

I like Federer.I thought everybody liked him. What is there to dislike about the man? Yes, he's now an old man in tennis terms but I would still not rule him totally out of a tournament. This year will may be be his last though. He's had a GREAT career. A credit to sport.
