Random thought - could you stick it in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer (airtight of course!)? Maybe you would be able to remove the poop if it was solid? A stomach turning idea, but it may work.

Or... you could try to trim the offensive deposit off the fur?

Or... you may be forced to dump the boots and buy new ones.

(I am refraining from making any Puss in Boots references...)
The easy bit is 'Does the liner come out?' Most of them do, with a little persuasion. Sometimes they are only stitched in and you can redo it. If it's not that I can only suggest (after scraping it all out and blotting and disinfecting it) sousing it repeatedly with warm, soapy water. It may be cheaper to buy some new boots! You could try leaving it filled with hot, disinfected, soapy water. Bonne Chance!
2sp's thought about the freezer is a good one.

Thanks for the suggestions, I got the poop out but I am a bit germ phobic thinking about the lining. I may try putting the boot in a bucket filled with a bit of bleach and washing powder. Thanks all.
On no account put the cat in a plastic bag in the freezer. You'll have the RSPCA after you.

You could try approaching him with some kitchen towel, although I expect he's cleaned himself up by now - they usually do.
Scrub out as well as you can using a sponge pan scourer, and lots of kitchen paper, and then zap it with this stuff:

My cat does not like the cold, she's only a little kitty, but she does like plastic bags though.

Thanks Buenchico
Don't put the boot in a bucket of bleach, you'll ruin the boot.
Don't want to put my foot in it but.......Fabreez, lots of it.
