Went to see this last week.

Everything was stacked against it - empty cinema (my group of four comprised 66% of the total audience) and I've got a bad neck/back so I was already grumpy, even before I didn't get a pre-show drink.

Then the adverts and trailers were ear-shatteringly loud and out of focus - why do they do that??

But ...

... the film is brilliant. I haven't laughed so much at a film in years.

The slapstick set-pieces are good, but the subtle stuff is way better - possibly wasted on young children, but it cracked me up (and my companions too).

Most of all though, Paddington is just real - I don't know how they did it (animatronics?, CGI?) but within minutes you just believe in the bear.

Go see it before it gets pulled from the cinemas - it will be pants on TV - you really do need the big screen for this one.

shhhh Blackadder - keep it under your hat or the pigeons will get it.
I used to love the subtle humour in the Paddington books,I'd be sitting there reading them and giggling out loud, even in public:-). Nothing would get me back to a cinema though nowadays, too many annoying experiences.I'll look forward to the dvd though!
Took me a second to understand your advice to Blackadder.....loved the film.

A man called Dave in a his local cinema notices what looks like Paddington Bear sitting next to him.

"Are you a bear?" asked Dave, sunnily and surprised. "Yes." "What are you doing at the movies?" Paddington replied, "Well, I liked the book."
