Yet another Burns Night thread, sorry.

With the haggis, I'm going to give each person four shot glasses of whisky ...

1. a Light or Fragrant one

2. a Smooth or Delicate one

3. a Rich one

4. a Peaty one

(yes, I have been doing lots of research online, and with the various husbands who are coming)

So, from my available bottles, I've narrowed it down to these, I think. I need to pick one from each group, preferably ones that are most different from each other, and that particularly show the character of their group. I, however, don't drink any of them, so I don't really know what they are like.

Any suggestions?

1. Light or Fragrant

Dalwhinnie
Glenkinchie

2. Smooth or Delicate

Auchentoshan
Glenmorangie
Aberlour
Bruichladdich

3. Rich

Macallan
Balvenie
Highland Park
Glenrothes
The Singleton

4. Peaty

Laphroaig
Ardbeg
Lagavulin
Talisker
Coal Ila

What further details do you have on the Talisker and Caol Ila?

Okay, they are ...

Talisker 10 Years Old

Talisker Storm

Caol Ila 12 Years Old
My invitation must have got lost in the post, JJ. Can you send me another one, please?
;-)
Personally it would be a toss up between Lagavulin and the Caol Ila, I don't think I've tried the Storm though.
I hope you won't allow anyone to light up a cigar at your Burn's supper. The whole South coast would end up in orbit with that selection!!! :-)
Have you found your haggis yet? They can be tricky blighters ;-)

I hadn't thought about cigars.

Should I buy some cigars?
OMG....here come the cigar suggestions............
Question Author
We have a great little cigar and tobacco shop in North Laine. Maybe I should get a box of something nice. Then all the husbands could go out on to the balcony and talk crap.
No cigars - stinky things.
What are you doing with all that hooch?
Question Author
I have to go out for a bit >>>>>>> x

I'm not doing anything with it, shoota. I just buy a bottle every now and then for when my pals come round with their BFs or husbands. As I don't drink it myself, it seems to accumulate.

Okay, back later x
(Wistfully) It's going to be a great dinner. Of your list I'd go for Bruichladdich (but only just) and The Singleton. Talisker is far too peaty for me.
Yes, a splosh of whisky does make the haggis better (but use an ordinary one).
