some historians think this is a bit of a myth; Cromwell himself doesn't seem to have had a problem with Christmas but a lot of the hardliners in parliament did.

So, whilst details are in constant flux, nothing much changes with the big picture. Those in control fail to serve but instead impose their warped will on the masses.
not necessarily, OG; there was a large constituency for puritanism - I've no idea whether it counted as a majority in modern democratic terms but it wasn't just a splinter group like Isis.
