Not sure about this but when I started working for Boots I did a stint at another branch that was 10 miles away so 20 was traveled on a daily basis for quite a few weeks. I was told that petrol allowance was 45p per mile which worked out at £9 a day which I was quite happy with. Just got paid and I have only got £47 when I was expecting around £90. Does any one know their policy on petrol expenses as think I have been led astray.

ask at your H.R dept or wages dept
exactly how many days did you travel?

Should be in your contract, T's & C's.
HMRC rules permit employers to pay up to 45p per mile, up to a maximum number of miles per annum. Most employers pay that figure but there is no obligation on them. Down to individual company policy. Ask at HR, not at HMRC. Agree, you should have been told what figure Boots uses, and as a major company I'll be amazed if it is not 45p
