Just came across an advert for "puppies for sale" the photos are shocking and in one you can clearly see the mother is extremely under weight with all of her rib cage and back bone showing. The conditions they are in are filthy and the puppies look absolutely terrified of the person taking the photos. It says this is her 3rd litter and there are 9 in this one litter!!! I really don't know what to do, the RSPCA will only respond if you have evidence of cruelty as far as I am aware and from past experience they are not quick to respond. It is heartbreaking :(

Just to add, one good thing is that their address is on there...

Sorry I should have made it clearer, I know the photos should be evidence of the mums condition but he is stating she is a whippet ?!?!- she is clearly a bull mastiff or similar breed, as are the puppies.

Quote 2:
"Prospective buyers who suspect they are meeting a puppy farmer or agent should never agree to purchase the puppy – this simply fuels the trade, causing even more puppies and breeding bitches to suffer.

Instead they should report the incident to their local authority or Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06.

If you suspect that a breeder is a puppy farmer, contact your local authority, who will be able to investigate"

So perhaps the Trading Standards department of your local authority could help?

However don't give upon the RSPCA. They were quick enough to respond (and to take my cat away) when someone reported me for 'neglect'. (The cat was actually very old and nearing the end of his life. The vet had said that he wasn't suffering and that, despite looking very poorly, he'd still enjoy exploring his territory and generally being made a fuss of until he could die naturally, rather than being put down unnecessarily. Once the RSPCA had spoken to the vet, they returned my cat and he passed away a few weeks later, curled up on my knee).
Can you let us know the area that the advert is from?

Thank you both very much, I will have a look at the links you have provided straight away.

The advert is in Luton, Beds under "all categories'". Photo 3 is awful :(
Can't find it Ollie. There is one for 'mastiff cross', but only one pic.

Ohhhh they have edited it! I sent them an email earlier so that must have made them change it. luckily I have taken screen shots from the original post. I will be reporting them as I know exactly where they live now. I pass the house on my way home from work so they will be found trust me.
Yes, I suspected that the ad had been edited. Hope they have not been reading AB! Whatever you do... Keep your identity safe!
Good for you Olliebaby, they need stopping and soon ! Let us know how you get on. Poor dogs.

Hi, Yes I did make sure when I e-mailed them that my identity would be completely hidden and Gumtree ensure that it is. I have reported it to the RSPCA so lets see what happens and the add is still on there. It so awful to think when I drive past that they are in there, I even thought about making out I was interested in buying to check on them myself but I wouldnt be able to leave them all there :(
I will let you all know what happens.
Good on you Ollie - glad you reported it. Best thing now is to leave the RSPCA to do their investigations. I know it must be hard as you have the address, but if the people are neglecting their animals, it's best to steer clear and leave it in the hands of the professionals (I know, apologies - not trying to teach you to suck eggs) You just don't know what kind of people they may be, if you get my meaning. You did the right thing.
Question Author
Hi all, I have been in e-mail contact with the RSPCA all morning and they have all the details and screenshots. I have been told it has all been passed to an officer who will now complete an investigation - they will also let me know the outcome which is good! I am going to leave this post for a little while so you can see that it is progressing and then I will delete it just to be on the safe side. Thanks for your comments and advice. Fingers crossed for them all.
Your're going to delete this thread?
How do you do that then?
Question Author
Oooh I just thought you could....maybe not then.
You could always ask The Ed.
Good on you for doing all you can to help this dog and her pups. I wish Gumtree could be banned from selling animals.
o lord...please do something...print it out and take it to the police station or send to RSPCA...It is so awful the things that people do isn`t it x
o sorry you have...well done you! x
