I always write the year on the first few cheques ready for any possible slip up.

That was always the case, writing the wrong year on the first cheques in January, but since I have only written one cheque in the past two years (using debit card instead) it's no longer really a problem.

Wrote some cheques this morning and stuttered over the first one but got it together after that. Seems strange to say 2015. It sounds so "futuristic". If you ever saw Back to the Future 1, (in 1985)you'll know that 2015 was the year 30 years into the future with cars flying thought the skies fuelled by tin cans, potato peelings, crisps packets etc.

It is the only form of payment my Landlord accepts - either that or get into arrears and he sends the 'boys' round for cash (so I'm told).



I do Charity quizzes a pound or sometimes 2 at at a time, if low on coins, then cheques are easy.

I use cheques to pay the window-cleaner...he won't take it in kind...

For anyone who has access to internet banking, cheques are now redundant. If anyone asks me for remote payment I ask for the bank details so that I can pay remotely by BACS. Can't see the point in writing a cheque, walking to a post box and paying 53p per stamp for good measure.

Also the Norfolk Knitters Circle are hardly likely to want to be bothered with that facility either.

The day may come when they have no choice, but the choice is still there for now.
