I have a digital TV ( I posted a thread yesterday about the bad reception) It was asking me to reset the channels etc, I have done this many times before. The problem is most of the channels have disappeared. I only have about 19 now. Even Sky news has gone. Anyone else had this happen to them ?

It sounds like a signal problem. Does your aerial look OK? Do your neighbours have a problem?
Have you done an automatic search? I tried that when my channels were vanishing and had to use default setting instead.
....which restored them all.

We have a communal Ariel , not asked my neighbours yet
Question Author
I did the auto search one
Well it sure sounds signal related. Do you have a different TV / Freeview box to try ? Could be the aerial or the cable or the connectors or your TV's receiver.
when this happens you usually ALWAYS have to retune - this is what has happened when we we turned to Freeview. Channels should come back but notice they may not come on the usual numbers.
Try default setting on your tv. We're on a communal one as well and occasionally the channels just disappear :(
Oh and ensure you select the 'restart from scratch' option not the 'search and add' one.

I have auto searched several times I have tried the Manuel one as well, no good. I do not know where to start from scratch. I can not watch my programmes tonight as, nothing seems to be working.
Question Author
Where is the default one ?
To start from scratch is to default to factory settings on some. If you are warned it will delete existing saved channels then that's it.

Check your cable connection.
Tam, this is all hypothetical until you find out if the neighbours are affected.

If they are- it's the aerial. If not, then it's the lead from the aerial to you TV.
Since yesterday's post mentioned that you had pulled the splitter apart , and broken it?, you've probably got no signal on the downfeed from the aerial to allow the TV to find any signals?
Question Author
Waiting to hear back from my neighbour. I found a new splitter, in the drawer, but not any good. Will get back to you tomorrow, I have had to turn the TV off.

Got it all sorted ,phew, just in time for crimbo, thank you for your help. It was the fault of my reception. I got the Ariel amplifier , actually I found one in my electric bits and pieces box, no idea where it came from.
What baffles me is why has it been OK for the five years I have been in my place ?
