No, no, no, no, no! It's a total recipe for disaster. We've been through this before and it would IMHO be detrimental.

This(and similar incidents) has been discussed at length previously on AB, I'll post links as I'm unsure the 'Related Threads' thingy will work:

I'm with Chilldoubt... sorry if that upsets folk but that the way it is. I think putting women on the ground is wrong.

Just to put it bluntly, 70% + of men fail P company, Para Training and Commando training because they are not fit and hard enough... Of all the women I know around our military.... NONE of them are contemplating this positively
i never want to touch either wolf. I also would not want to be a fireman (strength required) etc I cant imagine why this considered as a good idea.
Perhaps if a woman could pass the current tests. After all, it's not like Wimbledon, it's a matter of life and death. (and not just the individual's)
Wolf63...thanks for your 19:48 post...I am trying to concentrate on tonight's
"Any Questions" but find it difficult because I am giggling so much !

Merry Xmas !
Women can do a lot of things - a lot of them are things men cannot do. They can be snipers, airline fighter-pilots, bomb-disposal personnel and gunners...fulfill many, many roles in fact. I do not think that they can be as effective front-line combatants as men. Yes, pills can control monthly cycles - but it is as at a Hell of a hormonal cost later on and should only be used occasionally.

Anyway it is not down to that sort of detail. Female physical structure is just not geared to the 'yomping with heavy loads' necessity (for a start off there is the structure of the hips). They can do it for a while, but at great physical cost later on. To make tests more equal only weakens the male input.

Psychologically, there would be some sort of inadvertent weakening effect I think, but can't be certain of that.
It is right that women are not barred from front line roles because of their gender.

It would be completely wrong for anyone (male or female) to be allowed to fight in such roles unless the meet 'all' the criteria. No allowing women to pass to make the statistics look good.

I am all for women getting equality these days but perhaps there is a natural limit.

The real reason that women have this trouble with the Glass Ceiling, is that it is so difficult to keep clean, or so I have heard !
More likely because most of them don't give a monkeys, Mikey :-)
Probably Pixie...posted for the sake of devilment !
:-)
Its not a well known fact but the Maginot Line would have been a lot less dusty if the Memsahibs had been allowed in the trenches all those year ago.

Apologies in advance....a surfeit of affordable Courvoisier Chockies I fear !
Yes women should be allowed to serve as infantry combat soldiers. Watch the Womens People's defence units humiliating Isil on the front lines in kobani.
I have no strong thoughts either way . If a person, male or female, is capable of the job, then they should be given that option.

Plus, as I said on my other thread in the links, what women is gonna be happy entering the battle field knowing that another female is wearing EXACTLY the same gear?
chilli - you may have won the argument with that bit of logic. What if one of the ladies was tall and thin and looked good in her uniform. Would that cause resentment and bitchiness in the others?

I suppose we will just have to see what happens.
