It seems that today is known as mad Friday (the Friday before Christmas) because a lot of people finish work today for the Christmas holiday and go out drinking according to the media. Which people are these then? I don't know of anyone finishing today apart from teachers perhaps. There is nearly a week to go yet.

I always finished work the Friday before Christmas and didn't return until the first Monday after New Year.

I think there are still places that close down for a week or two and prefer it to be a calendar week rather than Wednesday to Wednesday.
I finish 10.00 pm on 24th for one day only.

I'm already off, but there are masses to do in the house so it doesn't seem very holiday-like. It'll be a Friday night with many folk it Xmas mood regardless whether they finish today or are back in Monday. A&E & the cops will confirm it's a high incident date.
I haven't finished for the holidays but always go out on mad Friday, in fact its the only night I go out over the Christmas/New Year period. Great atmosphere
A & E must dread this day.
I think its people having xmas parties and drinks on the the last weekend before Christmas, not especially that is their last day of work....

If the temple of M&S in Trurra is anything to go by at 8.15am, then indeed 'Mad Friday' is very much an appropriate term. The food area was heaving
