Since updating iTunes the only way I can edit my iPods is to restore them first, clearing off all my playlists, otherwise the editing page does not appear whereas it did previously. Am I missing something obvious? I've tried all the buttons but I cannot bring up the page on the iPods with the playlist boxes to tick before syncing. Having to download all the songs again takes quite a while.

Think I know what you mean...the issue is that if you sync your ipods itunes tries to add all songs to it, and any songs put on a while ago you dont have on your pc anymore get wiped and lost.

I always go into settings and untick the sync option Before plugging in my ipod. never lose any tracks that way.

Thanks Munchie but that's not the problem I have and I always do as you suggest anyway. Before the recent update, when I connected my iPods and clicked on, there came a menu along the top one of which was 'Music' and when clicking on that, up came a page with my playlists with boxes to tick if you wanted to include them in the 'Sync' or not. Now I cannot find that menu unless I restore the iPod first. Then I can find it but it is a laborious process because I have to then load around 650 songs all over again to the restored device.

OK I think I've sorted it. If anyone else has the problem, I can do it as follows:
Connect iPod
When loaded, click iPod on upper line (showed by diagram)
Tick Manually manage Music
Click Music in left hand column (under Summary
Tick Sync Music
Tick Remove & Sync
The boxes should appear
