My son loves fishing , so I thought as I am his secret Santa, I'd get him something to do with it. We agree to spend around 80-100€. I don't know the proper name for it, but he goes to the beach and fishes from there. Has anyone got a good idea for me ?

I spent years sea fishing and one thing I found was that fancy fishing tackle caught more fishermen then it ever did fish.If you're set on something for fishing, then I would suggest you get him a voucher and let him get what he wants himself.

The type of rod you would need is called a Beachcaster, and as dive buddy says a Multiplier is the best type of reel for beachcasting. Hope this helps.

Are you referring to a beach shelter? If so, this will give you an idea of what's available:

If not, the 'Sea' link, at the top of that page, will give you further suggestions as to what you might buy him.
I also forgot to mention that the major pieces fishing tackle such as rods and reels are very much a matter of personal choice. How they feel, how they match each other and balance together is very much a personal thing and I would hesitate to buy something as expensive as a decent reel to have it left in the bottom of a tackle box and never used because it "didn't feel right". I can speak from experience of this.

divebuddy probably has the best suggestion, take him to a decent tackle shop, tell him how much he can spend and let him loose to get what he really wants.
Pop up beach shelter ... lantern ... good water and wind proof Leggings and jacket.
Sorry but that's you £100 gone.
