When I was a lad we had roller skates,they weren't even boots we just strapped then to our shoes and off we went.

We had skateboards when I was a teenager in the 60's. Made them out of wood and a roller-skate.

Now that you've both jogged my ancient memory, us kids used to put a large book on a roller skate, sit on it, and career down a hill - without fear of meeting any on-coming vehicles !

Too old for a skateboard but can remember my Jacoskates with metal wheels.

There was a popular roller skating rink where I lved in Brixton, south London. Noise, but a great olace for helping fallen maidens - and pulling a few, too.

Are there any roller rinks left, I wonder ?

My previous OH used to hang out with teenage skateboarders when he was in his late 30s.
A skateboard ramp was built in a local park after lots of pressure from those skateboarders. I've never seen anyone use it.
