Will a USB3 hard drive work connected to a USB2 port?

They should all be backwards compatible, but will only work at USB2 speeds.
Most USB3 devices are back compatible and should work on a USB2 interface, but only at the speed of the latter. There may also be repeated messages about it wanting to be connected to a faster port to make the most of its capabilities.
