Pedant alert, it's "waves" in the song, to rhyme with "slaves".....

I thought that it should, but when I looked it up it did say "wave"...Must have been a misprint.
It's a good story thopugh - not everything stopped at 11-11-11, as some people people it did. Some soldiers were still killed after the Armistice :-(
In fact WW1 did not officially finish till 1919 not 1918.

The peace conference was not until 1919 and we were officially still at war until then.

In fact some war memorials do say 1914-1919

Also, many "Allied" personnel were fighting in Russia assisting the "White Russians" until 1919.
