mikey, Labour won the recent by election in Manchester in a Labour stronghold by just 600 votes from UKIP, when previously it was 6,000 to a Tory second.

AOg...you should have gone to Specsavers ! I have said on numerous occasions that I hope people vote UKIP in Tory held seats, as this will only mean a Labour victory more likely...even the Tories have cottoned to that that now. Next time you question me, I shall direct you to this post !

there's enough evidence available to back that. but don't make the mistake - as the major parties are still doing - that those who vote UKIP are similarly an absolute shower. at present UKIP's message is the one that the electorate are keen to listen to. the politicos would do well not to lose sight of that. describing UKIP voters as bigoted, racist or knuckle-draggers isn't helping.

I see UKIP as being a problem largely for the Tories, as indeed the Tories do themselves. They have already lost 2 seats to UKIP and Labour hasn't. I'm not keen to waste any more time repeatedly making this clear...it is Sunday afternoon after all. So I will not be responding any more.

They don't sound like the words of a man who is going to join up with Farage somehow! As I posted elsewhere, no Labour MP is going to join UKIP, that is the stuff of fantasy, and almost certainly no more Tory MPs either.
