/// In a powerful critique of Mr Miliband’s party, Tottenham MP David Lammy – a London mayoral frontrunner – said Labour’s traditional working class base was being driven away by the ‘disdain’ of ‘liberal, professional’ frontbenchers who failed to understand their anger about immigration. ///

/// That doesn’t mean we should be complacent about bringing people from different cultures together in modern Britain, from encouraging newcomers to learn English, to protecting our national heritage and getting serious about a national civic service for all young people. ///

/// But most of all, we can’t allow ourselves to believe that patriotism is something to sneer at. ///

Who knows, I suspect not though.
hope so, would be nice to get a Labour defector to go with the tories!
If I'm honest, there's more chance of seeing Lord Lucan riding Shergar in the 3.20 at Atlantis.
What are the bookies offering on Shergar chilli?

I can clearly see you are a betting man (blackadder)
Chilli you arent the one who rang in to a Gerry Adams phone in and asked:

what did Shergar taste like ?
He appears to be unhappy with the current state of the Labour party but I can see no evidence that defecting to UKIP is on the cards.

Why on earth would any Labour MP do that ? Its to be expected for Tory MPs to be tempted...after all UKIP is basically Tory at heart, but Labour ?
I agree that UKIP are Tories at heart. Pity the Conservatives aren't.
So there are no Eurosceptic Labour MPs? none? really?
30 years ago Labour campaigned on a platform of withdrawal from what was then the EEC, much less intrusive than the EU now. Funny old world!
Views on Europe have never been party centric, there are pro and against in all parties.
Of course there are Egara_Flegin !

But there are many, many more on the Tory benches and there always have been. The issue of Europe has been tearing the Tories apart for many years. That is why UKIP was invented...to allow Tories a place where they felt more at home. Europe was the main issue in why Major lost the 1997 election with such devastation. I think he used the phrase Bar Stewards, if my memory serves me correctly.

Europe is the Tories problem, not Labour.
Really Mickey?

I think you will find UKIP is attracting all colours now.

Labour ignore it at their peril.
If a Lib were to defect, that WOULD be seismic. Can't see it happening any time soon, though.
No, I think the libdems are heading for the green party who doubled their vote although for some reason this has been largley ignored.

There might become a time when you will be forced to eat those words mikey.

/// Ukip leader Nigel Farage insisted today that his party had been having conversations with Labour MPs over recent months "who very strongly support everything Ukip is trying to do." ///

/// Meanwhile, a Ukip source told the BBC's World at One that there were up to ten "deeply unhappy" Labour MPs not in marginal seats who were "fed up with being patronised by the Labour glitterati". ///

Well, some have no doubt seen the writing on the wall and as a lot of the features on Sky News have been showing they've realised that Labour is NOT the party of the working man. As the Labour MP(name escapes me) pointed out, it is NOT unpatriotic to be concerned about immigration and the sooner the Part realises that the sooner they'll resonate with the electorate(his words).
Those Labour MP's who wish to keep their seats in the marginals are undoubtedly giving it serious consideration.
Europe is the Tories problem, not Labour.

LOL, is that Labour's 'Head in the Sand' policy then?

As for a LibDem defecting I would imagine Nige would say no thanks, this is a party of winners who stick to their word!

Would he not find UKIP a 'cold house'?
AOG...if I was you I would take what Farage and UKIP say with a small pile of salt. After all, they have backtracked on so many issues lately. They say one thing one day and then retract it again the next....immigration, the NHS, etc, etc.

I am not ruling anything out when it comes to defecting MPs, but all of the UKIP MPs so far have been Tory. Its dave that should be worried, not Ed.

The Tories know that to vote UKIP will only let Labour in by the back door...that nice William Hague was saying as much only a couple of days ago.

Its the Tories that are on the back foot here, not Labour...get used to it !
