I was asked to go online a while ago, after a lot of repeated form filling in, i finally got a password. Do you think i can use this for an online account? no, before you get started, you have to give them your surname& holder number. for some strange reason they dont recognise my holder number!! its a pain in the rs, because i dont live in the uk.
any advice would help

Been doing this on line for quite a while. Th number they require is not your Holders Number, it is the long NS & I number.
Are you using the holder number and not the account number?
All you need is your HOLDER Number.......8 numbers +one capital letter

Bob's your uncle
To simply check if you have won anything online you need your Holder number.
To gain access to an online account, they will post you your NS&I number.
It was all very dumb to apply for an online account....stupid process.
You print off a form , fill it in and then post it to them.
By return post they send you your NS&I number and a temp password (two different letters, if I remember correctly).
Once you have an online account you can buy/sell bonds.
I'm living outside the UK also, but my post from UK is forwarded. So letters from Nation savings took about a week to get to us.
