There is an Advert on TV showing an Orangutan going down an escalator, and the music is ♫When I fall in Love♫.

When the advert first appeared it was sung by Nat King Cole but recently his vocal has disappeared, and only the music is played.

Was this for some copyright reason, does anyone know?

Do you mean that is a different singer on your link? Sorry am being dense, but if it was a copyright issue with the track it would have been removed from You Tube too.
Fascinating too how the ad was made, sorry to sidetrack.

I haven't seen the ad without vocals but I'm guessing it's a shorter version... is it?
Never realised or thout about it not being a real orangutang!
I find that offensive to NKCole and more, to black men. Just an orchestra playing the tune would suffice.
He looks like Albert Steptoe
Far too dangerous to allow an animal to walk up an escalator - dogs have to be carried because of the danger of their feet getting trapped.
I always think of the oranguatan I saw years ago in Edinburgh zon - it had its own tv to watch!

And I also think of the Librarian in Terry Pratchett's Discworld

Ah, perhaps you have hit on the reason, but how people think like this is a mystery to me.

No it was certainly Nat King Cole who sang it in the old advert, but in new advert it is just the music that is played, without the singer N K C.
The agency involved (Adam & Eve) and SSE have been asked for an explanation and have remained tight lipped.

There may have been an issue with the Cole estate though the producer would have sorted that up front. So far as I know there has been no generic accusations of racism.

Most of the criticism levelled against it in the industry has been due to the lazy thinking and crass use of the CGI Orang Utan.
"...how people think like this is a mystery to me...." To depict a legends voice to a monkey is like MMonroe depicted as a donkey singing happy birthday to JFK.

Sacrilege is an understatement!
/To depict a legends voice to a monkey/

It's not.

'Maya' is obviously a female and is reunited with her baby at the end. (and is an ape - not a monkey btw)

And the NKC vocal is clearly male.
