I'm going to watch it at 10.00 on +1. Bet I love it, lol. ;-)

Try following up with 'It Was Alright On The Night' (70s telly).

I now understand why so many kids were abused back then (you'll have to watch it to understand).

More jaws will be dropped.
No sympathy from me for any fool caught up in a riot. What do you say, SP?

Do you mean like Ian Tomlinson?

My sympathy went to him and his family.

Did yours??
Not particularly, to be honest. Although he wasn't hurling bricks etc. he was the author of his own misfortune. I'm entitled to walk through Tottenham on a Saturday night with £10,000 hanging out of my top pocket, doesn't mean I'm going to do it. As for his family, for whatever reason they hadn't bothered with him for years. So if they didn't care, why should I?
No man is an island...
But that aside, I meant people taking an active part in rioting, as you well know.
i saw a few seconds of it around half 10, there was a woman copper saying that something would stay with her forever, but i missed the bit about what it was?

I will try to repeat exactly what she said, but honest...

She told a story about a time when she pushed open a door to the officers' bar and unbeknownst to her, her Chief Super was stood behind it, and by pushing the door, she made him spill his drink.

She made to walk away, but was called in.

Now remember, this was a room mostly filled with blokes right...

The Chief Super (or actually it may have been an Inspector), grabbed her legs, so she fell backwards on the floor - and dragged her along the bar, ensuring her skirt rode up, giving all the blokes there a good view of her knickers.

Just...astonishing...

I'll be careful to distinguish rioters from protesters.

Rioters I don't care about. They are breaking the law, thieving and looting. However, we need to recognise the difference between rioters and protesters.

The moment people advocate police mistreatment of protestors, then you play into the hands of establishment interests.

Democracy needs a robust level of public engagement.

Your Ian Tomlinson analogy is invalid.

Were you shocked by the documentary?

Or was this all a bit 'old news'?

It certainly was an eye-opener for me...kinda explains why political correctness came about - as a rection to what went before.
I found it quite boring actually, nothing which I haven't heard before.

The documentary '24 Hours In Police Custody' is more of an eye opener and shows how much of a soft touch the Police have become nowadays
thanks Sp - i managed to catch it last night, thankfully we have moved on! I felt for her though that must of been horrendous
