Why does my fire alarm indicate a failing battery only in the middle of the night?

Maybe you are out a lot during the day or other noises drown out the sound
Actually you are all wrong the gremlin that works the battery failing alarm is nocturnal and only works on the night shift.
Batteries perform worse at low temperatures. The coolest time of the day is usually early in the morning.
Fire alarms can now be installed with a power supply to them ,usually from a local light circuit, they then have battery back up by rechargable batteries.

Thank you all. I meant smoke alarms of course but your answers al suited. I have gone lithium.
