Is there a way to make small pillar candles and those scented ones in jars use the wax at the edges and not just that nearest to the wick?

pillar candles are designed not to melt to the edge as it would be messy. If, by small pillar candles, you mean votives, then the trick is to keep the wick trimmed and burn then for long enough in one go out of a draught, same wit jar candles, they tunnel if not burnt long enough at one go, 4 hours or even longer is needed and again, out of a draught. I use tea lights...

If there is, I'd like to know about it as well. It's so annoying to be left with a load of wax when the wick has gone.
sketch please...lol
Well Ronnie; could you not just poke it as it burns to push the unused wax into the centre ?
Surely you can get replacements? There is an art to dipping your wick.

I use tea lights mostly for that reason as they are used up much more quickly and don't need such a long burn time.

Young_Breezer, I'd expect that if such a thing was needed, there would be instruction on the packaging to the effect 'please ensure a good poking when inflamed'.
woofgang, not votive candles but the ones made by Price's for getting rid of household niffs.
//'please ensure a good poking when inflamed'. //

LOL LOL LOL.
But everyone knows you need a good poking when inflamed !

I feel such a fool, Old_Geezer, the 'Ronnie' penny just dropped. My cheeks are burning.
if they are pillar candles designed to burn unsupported then they will be designed to tunnel otherwise the wax would run everywhere. Fo jar candles see the comments in my first post.

These particular ones come in a plastic (?) container with an advertised 40 hour burn time, woofgang

On the right.
