Hoping someone can shed a little light on this for me (sqad if he's about maybe) - for the past two evenings I've had a really, really painful ankle bone - little or no swelling, not painful to touch unless I press quite hard - also a little discomfort along the out side of my foot.. Through the day there is no problem whatsoever but it has suddenly come on in the evening. To my knowledge I haven't done anything to injure it. Really is painful, lasts for about six hours - have taken a couple of Ibruprofen when it starts then two more about five hours later. Am getting on for 70 but very active as a rule. Any ideas please.

rsvp........sounds like osteo-arthritis of the ankle joint (wear and tear) not the commonest joint to be involved but certainly well reported.

You treatment of Ibuprofen at night seems to be ideal, but remember to take at least 400mgms in one go.

Monitor the situation over the next few months.
