I regularly fly BA from Heathrow to Grand Cayman. For the hour's stop in Nassau one has to stay on the plane.
I am about to fly Emirates from New York to Dubai. The plane stops at Milan for, I think, about 2 hours. Is one allowed to go into the terminal building in Milan ?

I doubt many people from this UK site have flown from NY to Dubai. I've looked on Emirates site and there are lots of direct flights from NY too so that narrows down even more your chance of someone on here with experience. Why don't you just phone customer service at Emirates and ask them?

When we flew London - Sydney via Bangkok, we were advised by the Captain that we could get off, but as we would be on the ground for 1 1/2 hrs and apparently the lines for security were horrendous, he advised against it. So we stayed on the plane had a look in first class (escorted by one of our stewards)...would have been nice if we had the money!, and watched the service staff come on and get the plane ready for the next leg. That was quite interesting in itself.
