I have always said I would go for a female dog but on considering am realising if you do get one from a rescue home they have been bred a number of times even if one and bless them - think they are a bit traumatised coming from an illegal breeder.

Anyway another dog has stolen my heart - a male but he is 18 months - at the mo he is being fostered and has been described as nervous and frightened etc - do you think I can do it.

Because my friends are saying this and that - it is making me nervous.

shih tzu X
Theyre lovely, big show-off dogs. It will need grooming but they usually love the attention. Have him, you wont regret it.
Thanx for the link Bc .Bentley looks adorable and I can see why you would want him jj,the only thing I would really consider is,you said your pet would have to be on their own on a regular basis, would this make it too difficult in trying to not get the wee dog too stressed?
It's a personal choice JJ. I would always opt for a spayed ***, but that's just my preference.
go meet him go for walkies then you can decide xx
^ why did I get *** ? All I said was B1 tch
There are so many different reasons why the dog found itself in the doggy orphanage. She may be overwhelmed by being in the rescue place and this will be make her more nervous.

You might go along to visit her Conne and not like each other or you both might fall in love and be ideal for each other.

Good luck
The first step is to make an appointment to see him. I think you'll know from that visit, whether this little dog is for you or not. Pick up the phone - you know you want to!
Conne - I am not fond of smaller dogs but this little one is cute.

It is an exciting and terrifying time - I remember all three of my adoptions clearly. None of them started well but after a day or so it all works out.

Can I ask one more question or two.

I am nervous because I live on my own and worry if I take sick who would look after him - he would need to go to kennels and I know Mr Harv didn't like them but what could I do.

Friends and rels not applicable.
Question Author
Tambo - Mr Harv was groomed every 3-4 months.

Bunkie - No he wouldn't be left on a regular basis - maybe once a week so that I can run errands.

Personally I would go for a mongrel in this situation but the dogs of this breed we have looked after have been fine. One way of overcoming the falling sick problem is to walk your dog with other owners who might step in if necessary. Our little circle will always back up as needed.

That's the problem Seadogg - whilst my friends and rellys would probably love him they wouldn't look after him - no way.

Piper - grooming so often wouldn't bother me as I would fork out the money no problem.

Maybe you don't realise Sea that this wee dog is a mongrel shih tzu X - wouldn't that make him a mongrel.
Their coat grows long & silky, needing constant grooming to avoid clumpy matts. Your dog is clipped; extra 6weekly cost if youre unable to diy.

I don't care about the grooming - wouldn't I spend that on my kiddies or grandkiddies if I had them. TBH - my nephews get more money.
Question Author
I spend £43 a month on Mr Harv for his insurance - he was so worth it.
JJ, you will make a perfect keeper for this dog, as you kick off every hazard put up. I hope you get him, youre certainly worthy x
