My partner takes 75 micrograms of Thyroxine daily and wants to know if she can safely take Echinacea to boost her immune system? Ta Muchly.

Hi Woodelf, I cannot find anything that indicates they should not be taken together, a quick chat with a Pharmacist would be an idea to be sure.

Your wife is well controlled on 75micrograms of thyroxine daily and the addition of Echinacea should pose no problem.

Here in the U.S., thyroid replacement medication is marketed under a brand named Synthroid, but still a variant of thyroxine. I've taken 75mcg daily of Synthroid for over 20 years and also take 400 mg of natural Echinacea purpurea daily. Other than an uncontrollable tic, walking pigeon toed and sudden desire for Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream, no noticeable side affects.
