Hi. I'm 12 weeks in after the above shoulder procedure and struggling. I don't seem to have very good range of movement, not even as good as before the op, and my physio (who is not qualified yet) is telling me that I need to start on strengthening exercises, but I read that this will only increase the muscle strength within my limited range, and that I should get the full range back before starting the strengthening ones. Does anyone know if this is truly the case?

12 weeks post op for this procedure is fat too early assess the result, which will depend upon the amount of damage that whas found in the shoulder at arthroscopy.
It may well be at least 12 months before you see any improvement.
Fat??.......far.
Hi, I have had this operation done 3 times over the past 5 years. After the first op the surgeon waited over 3 weeks before starting exercises but on the second and third ones the surgeon a different one wanted me to start within a few days. Although you may not have a lot of movement it will start to build up the muscle in that area and when you do get better movement it will help the recovery. The movement at the moment may be limited due to the swelling still in the area of the op as they do move it about quite a bit during the procedure. As Sqad says it may be 12 months or more before much of it comes back as it can take this long or even longer for all the swelling to go.
Interesting!!
