My son is a health fanatic, he eats a balanced diet and has a protein drink after working out. Not instead of a meal.
I am not an expert.........but i would have thought that in your circumstance you would need extra carbohydrates, not extra protein.

However the post of 1ozzy above, seems to be sensible.
My other half is an avid gym goer and has tried the protein shakes vs protein from food. He had more trouble losing the body fat on the shakes, they are quite high in calories. He now eats lots af lean meat and has a single protein bar mid-morning. His weight has dropped and stabilised at 11st and his muscle definition and body fat percentage is significantly better than when he drank shakes daily.
My wife tried this but ended up with iron deficiency and was told to stop by GP. That was when he prescribed 'weightwatchers'
No...eat food.
I see no reason to replace meals with protein shakes.

You say you are in training so imply you are trying to gain muscle rather than lose weight. So I can possibly see an argument in taking on extra whatever to supplement, but I see no advantage is replacing. Lower fat isn't going to be a big issue for you, you will be burning off energy anyway.

Shake drinks are used by some trying to lose weight, but I don't much approve. Even if you do get a result you have failed to train yourself to eat normally, and so will risk quickly going back to overeating habits one you reach goal; (or abandon the replacements).
