This situation is potentially quite serious if the Swedes start lobbing depth charges in their waters.

There's not a lot that Britain can do other than stand back and watch. We'd be affronted if the Swedes offered to help us with a sub lurking near a Scottish Oil terminal.

Oddly, there was a Wallander episode in the most recent series (the Swedish with subtitles ones) involving a submarine intrusion of just this sort.

I think it's a regular occurrence. The Russians are always p155ing about in Swedish waters doing god knows what, so it's something of an issue there.
