I appreciate that there is a sliding scale for 'celebrities' appearance on game shows but can anyone give me a ballpark figure how much for a run of the mill comedian to appear on a show like 8 out of 10 or similar?

Did not know there were comedians on that show .but prob do it for free just get there faces seen
Never seen it.
Is it funny?
I think it depends on how much the show wants the celeb and how much the celeb wants the exposure, also how good the agent is at negotiation.
good question. Very hard to say, isn't it. I read that an athlete was going to get £10,000 to fire the starter-gun at the London Marathon and at the last minute demanded £20,000. So Sally Gunnell (who just happened to be there) did it for nothing. Alex Ferguson was famous for demanding enormous fees from charities.
Back to your question, lol. Depending on the show and the sleb, I'd guess £1,500 to £5,000. But I could be quite wrong. ;)
I always thought they did it for free and any money they won on the show goes to charity anyway.
They don't do it for free, they still get paid, only any money they win goes to their Charity.

In a lot of cases the celeb gets paid more than they make for charity but that's entertainment.

I have a friend who does accounts for some celebs and would agree with Svejk, although obviously he can't reveal specific amounts to me.
I thought pinstripe meant when a celeb goes on things like panel shows; Have I Got News for You, QI, 8 of 10 Cats etc. not shows where they win money for charity. Sorry, I still don't know the answer, though.
A simple personal appearance (without any broadcasting rights involved, such as opening a new facility or hosting a local awards ceremony) might be charged at around £5,000. See here:

Celebs' agents will obviously be looking for considerably more money for a TV appearance but some low-budget shows (such as the programmes specifically made for Dave) might not pay a great deal more.

However people like Keanu Reeves won't get out of bed for less than a quarter of a million dollars:
